Remember When
Sometimes when I wander around on the landing in Varnamtown, I can't help but let my mind drift, imagining what this place might have been like in the past. I let the breeze and the smell of the salt air drift over me, picturing in my mind boats that have come and gone, people spending quiet time with each other, and kids swimming in the river and fishing from the dock. There were surely times of joy as well as sadness and loss, and great comfort to be found just being in that beautiful and peaceful place.
I allow my mind to fill with wonder and mystery: What could the shadows and the changing tide tell me; what stories, real or imagined? This image brings me back to that place in my mind. I cannot explain it completely but this boat, the shadows on and around her makes me think of a ghost town - a ghost boat? I wonder, I imagine and I am pulled into a world of stories yet untold.
